Make sure:

  1. Absolutely everything is detailed in the proposal you receive
  2. The proposal contains information about post delivery of your project, e.g. support, bug fixing, extra development etc.
  3. You've read and understood the company's Terms and Conditions
  4. There are no hidden costs. If you're not sure, ask!
  5. You have in place a phased delivery of your project, so you can work and feedback on the site whilst it is still in development
  6. You own the code and the end product - not the development company. You are paying for it after all!
  7. You ask for a previous client list, and if possible any referrals
  8. You get confirmation that previous client's projects were delivered according to specifications and time
  9. You know what code they propose to use to build your site
  10. Your site will be accessible, now a legal requirement.
